No matter how much I don't like being a conformist and I try, when I can, the road less traveled, on January 1st, I have to write about "New Year's Resolutions".
GET IN SHAPE!
This year is not just about dieting, not anymore. I've been on diets before and they've worked for me, and I am actually at my ideal weight right now, but there is still some more work to do. And this work, to me, is harder than dieting... yep, you guessed it: exercising! There is no going around it, to get in shape I gotta start moving again. I am hoping a combination of yoga, some weights, and a little aerobics should do the trick.
TAKE BETTER CARE OF MYSELF
My biggest issue with this is that I don't drink enough water. Some days I don't drink any water at all. So the resolution here is to drink more water and less soda. I always hear about the benefits of being appropriately hydrated (from doctors, facialist, masseuse), and it's hard for me to believe that I would notice so many changes once I'll start drinking more water, but I guess there is only one way to find out.
KEEP IN TOUCH WITH OLD FRIENDS
I am really bad at this. Sometimes I wonder how some people are still my friends! I have many friends in Italy and across the US, and even though I don't need an envelope and a stamp, sending emails is not as easy as it should be for me. Probably because I want to tell them so much, and that makes me procrastinate until I have enough time available to write nice long emails. I will start sending shorter but at least more frequent emails, letting people know that I am still here and that I still care.
START AND FINISH A CRAFTY PROJECT
This year I really want to get my hands busy with something else other than a pen or a keyboard. I would love to start and finish an afghan blanket. I have not picked up a crochet in a long time, but every time I do I find it very relaxing. I think I will try with this pattern on the left, I love all the bright colors!
FIND BETTER BEAUTY PRODUCTS
After more than a year of blogging and being exposed to so many other bloggers, I've discovered so many new products and beauty secrets. With this new year, I will try to follow a more structured beauty regime, with products that will benefit my skin and hair.
CURBING THE SHOPAHOLIC
Save more, splurge sometimes, and eliminate the "useless spending". Don't get me wrong, I am pretty good when it comes to managing my money, but while some people spend tons of dollars on Starbucks, I sometimes buy unnecessary things. And I am not talking about unnecessary shoes or unnecessary dresses. Those are necessary. I'm talking about unnecessary 2008 day planner, when I already have two at home, but I buy one more because it's pretty. Unnecessary candles when I have so many at home, and they all end up giving me a headache, and I know this but I still buy them. Unnecessary as in I really want to buy that $300 KitchenAid stand mixer even though I don't need it.
I will try to make a point about not stressing the little things and take life a bit less seriously. Be grateful for what I have, but also have fun, relax and enjoy my life.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)
