back to basics: cucumber

Another product that has taken the place of fancy and expensive products in my bathroom is Dove cucumber and green tea soap.

I see it as another example of going back to the basics.

I am still not sure why is that, but I find myself craving simplicity these days. So much so that I've gone back to soap bars after decades of using body wash products.

And because of the current steaming temperatures of New York, cucumber is the most refreshing thing I can use in the shower. This soap smells great and it leaves my skin so soft.

What's cute is that Kaitlin is using cucumber too, both the body wash and the body lotion from Johnson and Johnson.

So we both feel cool and refreshed on these hot summer days. :)

back to basics: eye shadow

For the longest time, I've been in love with this Chanel quad eye shadow set in these beautiful blue shades, but I've never been able to justify spending $55 on it.

Considering the state of the economy (just like Daisy said), the maternity leave, and the fact that I don't really wear makeup these days (I'm lucky if I have the time to put my hair up in a pony tail, before little Kaitlin starts pulling on my hair!), I think I like this cheaper alternative much better:

Maybelline Expert Wear eye shadow.

It comes with instructions on where to wear the different colors. And it costs $5.00!

It's definitely worth a try.

to spend or not to spend: tory burch shoes

After 6 months or so of having to wear maternity clothes, it feels nice to know that I can, once again, enjoy fashionable clothes.

I am, however, concerned about making the necessary adjustments that come with holding a baby (can't wear heels too high) or burping a baby (can't wear expensive tops), etc...

So I find myself looking around at fashion with this "new-mom" mentality, and surprisingly, I've set my eyes on a pair of shoes that I had noticed before being pregnant, but that now looks even more perfect than ever.

Tory Burch - Lillian Buckle Pump

These shoes look comfortable yet sexy, the design looks pretty timeless, plus the stacked heel is just what I need these days.

I don't own anything by Tory Burch yet, and she is making it very difficult for me to hold back any longer, especially now, since I'm in need of some pampering and I am finally ready to be fashionable again! ;)

The one problem I have with these shoes is the fact that I am on maternity leave from work and these shoes cost $325.

You see my dilemma?
