fashion disaster: is this grandma too cool for you?

Ok, what is going on here?

Is this supposed to be "coolest grandma ever" look?

I can justify the bright color of the ugly crocs and even the extra effort in finding matching socks (as your eyes age the colors need to be brighter and brighter...).

I don't particularly like the Picasso inspired jacket in 80s neon colors, but she does, and it's nobody's business...

But the hair?!?

Bright orange, red and what not highlights just on the top of her spicked hair?

The only way I would justify that is if she told me that her granddaughter is studying to become a hairdresser, and she is her guinea pig... other than that, it's just a disaster!

fashion disaster - yet another pink disaster

As much as I love pink, I realize that it is the one color that won't forgive you if you abuse it!

Like in this past fashion disasters: Pepto Pink and Allover Pink.

One thing these pink disasters have in common is the mature age of the person wearing all this pink, which makes me realize that once we reach a certain age, us women seem to fall in love all over again with pink and with flowers (Lots of flowers! Especially on couches and wallpaper!)

Well, my girls, remember this lesson, and don't let your seventy year old brain trick you into any pink flowery mess!

mother's day gift idea: marissa alperin's sweet pea collection

To the new Dad:

Mother's Day is just around the corner and here is a luxurious gift for the new mommy, especially if she has given you a son, the little man that will carry your last name into the next few generations (I'm Italian, and that's how most Italian men think...).

A beautiful and special piece of jewelry that will symbolize this moment forever: a sweet pea necklace in 18K gold with emeralds from Marissa Alperin.

Even if the price tag is a little high ($750), it is more than worth it to show her your appreciation, and to thank her for all the hard work she has put into the nine months of gestation...

Not to mention all the sleepless nights, the spit-ups, the crying spells, etc...

If, on the other hand, she has given you a daughter, and you think the gold and emerald might be too much money, don't fret, I have a solution for you:

The very pretty sweet pea silver necklace with a green jasper bead for only $100!

Same concept, more savings! ;)

All kidding aside, check out the beautiful jewelry at Marissa Alperin, and if anybody is still wondering, I've always had a preference for baby girls (and I got one, yay!) :)

badichi customized belts

Ever felt like you could never find the perfect belt?

Too skinny, not skinny enough, a little too fancy, not casual enough... etc?

Well, listen up, because all your belts dilemmas are officially over (if you live in NY at least).

There is a new store on Prince Street, Badichi, and it will make you a customize belt while you wait.

You start by picking the belt, in whatever color and material you need (their carry the finest Israeli leather) and then you choose the buckle between the amazingly wide variety they offer.

Once you are done with your choices, they'll size you up and cut your new belt right in front of you in under 5 minutes!

Look for Yinon, the owner, when you visit the store @ 159 Prince Street, and he'll make sure you walk out with the belt you were always meant to wear!

But hurry, offer expires this Thursday, April 15th.

fashion disaster: knee length stockings

This woman has been able to transform the already bad trench/sneakers combination into the horrible trench/sneakers/knee length stockings combination!

I don't think you can top that even if you wanted to...

Kudos to her! ;)

what are you shopping for this spring?

Seriously? What are you shopping for? Do you have any particular longing? Is it a bag, shoes or even a t-shirt? Will you keep your usual style, or will you try something different? Will you follow the fashion or will you follow your heart?

Lately, I've been shopping more for my baby than for myself, and it's crazy how I find million of beautiful little dresses and shoes for her, and nothing for myself!

I'm either becoming pickier than ever, or I don't care enough to even bother looking for that special piece (OMG!), or maybe I just don't have the time to shop the way I used to.

That's why in a way I wrote my previous post about the affordable luxury stores: it's become easier to just browse that handful of stores and pick something out of whatever they have.

Obviously having a baby has changed many things in my life, and one of them it's how I shop. I don't have the time I used to, I can't browse entire neighborhoods for hours, I can't get lost in department stores.

Nope.

Now I have almost turned into a man, I mean, I have to shop like a man.

I have to know in advance what I am looking for (and this is soooo hard for me), and then hit one or two stores, browse for 10 minutes tops, find the item, pay and leave! And who has the time for research anymore?!?!

I want to cry!!! This is not what shopping is supposed to be!!!

I so miss my good old friend (shopping) that when I have a few minutes to myself (baby napping), I go overboard and hit all the online stores and shop like there is no tomorrow!

So, let me ask you again, what are you shopping for this Spring?

Please let me know so that I can add it to my list and try to place the order as soon as Kaitlin goes for her next nap.

Thank you.
