Louis Vuitton vs Gucci Handbag

I think I wrote about this more times than I can count by now, and this should give you an idea of the internal struggle I go through when it comes to this subject.

In short: I love luxury handbags but I hate to spend so much money for them. Not that I am cheap, not at all, but I feel guilty about it, because, I guess, deep down I realize that it is a bit ridiculous spending so much money on a bag when it could be spent on much more important things.

So I go back and forth. I'll decide I want one, and then I'll talk myself out of it.

But now there is a new twist in this old story because my BIG birthday is coming up (10 days away!) and I've been specifically saving for this birthday present for a year. Not because I think I'm so special I deserve a fancy handbag, but because I'm getting old and I figured if I gave myself something to look forward to (like a Louis Vuitton) I won't dread September 19th so much this year.

Well, let me tell you, the day is almost here, I'm dreading it anyway, and I have no idea if I will go through with the big purchase. And I still don't know which bag I want... the choice is between these beauties:

Gucci Sukey Tote - $950

As you can see, I'm sticking close to the $1,000 mark, because more than that it becomes an airfare to Europe... and that would be wrong to carry around my arm (I rather travel).

What would you do? What would you buy? How do you spoil yourself?

I like the Neverfull or the Sukey. :) I will be jealous everyday that you come to work with any of your choices.

No need to be jealous... actually, you should get one too, I think you deserve it (and it will help with my guilt trip lol) ;)

I would take the money and my family and go on a great vacation. These bags are nice - but I wouldn't trade for my vacation memories, which are priceless :-)

Happy (early) Birthday!

Thanks Maria!

The thing is I'm still going on vacation even if I get the bag, it's just that I will need to save a little more than if I didn't get the bag.

But I still have not decided what to do, yet. I think I need to take a trip to the store to really know.

Thanks for your advice. :)

I think I understand what you are saying. It is good to look to something nice, it makes the stressors of daily easier to handle.

How about another Mel Boteri handbag? I thought all of them were stunning. I especially like the turquoise colored leather one. The totes were beautiful as well, more so then the LVs or Gucci.
