Book Review: Every Boy Should Have a Man

When I first picked up this book, completely unaware of its content, I couldn't put my finger on the meaning of its title, but the idea that made most sense to me was that every kid needs a father (figure or not).

Well, let me tell you, was I wrong!

The man that every boy should have is not what you think, will not be anything you would have guessed, and I won't say anymore because I won't spoil the surprise for you.

Preston L. Allen has written a poignant book about human suffering, a fantasy tale about what could happen when some people have more power over others, and how a dangerous combination of violence and a sense of superiority can destroy all that we have worked hard for and gained in our years on this planet. But it's also a tale about love and hope, adventure and redemption.

I really don't want to say more, because I want you to have that same first "what?!?" moment I had when I first started reading the book. Pick up Every Boy Should Have a Man, and get ready to enter a new world, a scary world, but also a world that looks a lot like our world.
